Meet Ross Baran
Title: Architectural Design Support
How he describes his role: This is a tough one since I have only been in my current roll for a couple week. At this time I am training, but in the near future I look forward to assisting architects with their projects. I will be offering solutions for their not so standard projects along with recommending products, writing / reviewing specifications and providing drawings.
Tenure at CornellCookson: I started my career with CornellCookson in the shop manufacturing bottom bars and guides. Within the span of 2 years, I moved to many departments within our shop. I then accepted a sales position in the Contract Fulfillment Department, where I spent another 2 years working with our Canadian dealer base. With a wide variety of product knowledge from building and selling our product, I am now excited to be a member of the Architectural Design Team.
Most memorable/favorite project: When I was in contract fulfillment, I had one particular customer that always bought super imposed doors. The construction was made up of 2 Thermiser doors to improve sound transmission and control temperature. These projects were always enjoyable to work on since it was a custom solution that was much more unique than our standard projects. I look forward to the opportunity to work on many more custom projects in my current role.
If Ross could do another job for just one day: I used to work in nuclear power plants and that was a super cool job. I would be a nuclear power plant technician. .
Last TV show watched: "The Office"
Words of advice for others in the industry: Always do your best to recommend the correct product for the application.
Favorite desk tchotchke: I don’t have one – I have never had one.
Hobbies: I enjoy restoring old classic European cars. I am currently restoring a Porsche 944. I also like snowboarding in the winter and fishing in the summer.
Outside of work, Ross likes to: Spend time with his family and his girlfriend.
