Meet Shawn McCormick
Title: Architectural Design Supervisor
How he describes his role: The majority of my time is spent developing our new team members in ADS and assisting clients with custom applications.
Tenure at CornellCookson: I’ve been at CornellCookson for 18 years. I worked in engineering for 10 years and then moved into the Architectural Design Department, where I’ve been for eight years.
Most memorable/favorite project: The East 13th Street project in NYC – We created a custom panel door for a high end residential condo building. This project was featured in Metal Architecture's January 2019 issue.
On his career growth: It’s challenging and rewarding to tackle projects where we’re unsure if it can be done or if it’s feasible. That’s the challenge and fun part of my role – figuring out solutions for customers. We’ll do whatever we can to help and exhaust all possibilities to create a custom solution.
If Shawn could do another job for just one day: I'd be the Offensive Coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts.
Last TV show watched: “Hell’s Kitchen”
Words of advice for people in industry: Do what you love and makes you happy.
Favorite desk tchotchke: Pictures of my family.
Hobbies: I have a fine arts degree. I also have had my own freelancing photography business and still enjoy taking photos. I enjoy playing golf and coach football in my spare time.
Outside of work, Shawn likes to: BBQ and spend time with his family.
